THE IDEA
Collage is the development of a masterpiece at the basis of which there is an idea which becomes a project: the reconstruction of a whole human skeleton, using bones donated by different people. The donators are chosen and selected by the artist, and represent the main characters of the contemporary international artistic culture. The choice of the donators represent an “official recognition” to them as Argonauts in their field of action. The donated bones from the chosen characters will for this reason represent the main part of a true artistic relique, unique monument of international culture.
THE PROJECT
Collage is the development of a masterpiece at the basis of the participation to the work on behalf of the doners in ufficialized by the undertaking of a contract of donation whit an effective legal value, written out in a triple copy each kept by the artist, the doner and the representative of the definite permanent place where the work will be kept and exhibited. The work will be guarded in a museum building chosen between the Anthropological Museums and Etnological and Natural History Museums which have offered to host it. The human skeleton in this case has been divided into 62 parts. 62 contracts of donation will be stipulated for 62 donators. The subscription of the contract determins the following conditions:
- The donation does not foresee any form of payment.
- The extraction of the bone donated cannot take place before the sixth year after the death of the donator and not later than the tenth.
- The extraction will be carried out by specialized people and in the presence of the artist or of a person delegated by him;
- In case the donator should suffer an accident and/or an operation which causes a modification or substitution of the chosen bone, the modified bone will be removed regardless or the element which has substituted it.
THE DONATORS
The donators listed below have been personally chosen by the artist. The choice has been guided by criterias which correspond to a research of individualization of the most courageous artistic poets, symptom of that “subverting” intelligence which, in the eyes of the artist, allows the chosen donators, the merit of “the highest figure of western culture in the second half of the 19th century”. The creation of a human monument to western culture, could not therefore, be carried out without their involvement.
